The Palette
“the trick was keeping the warm out of the snow.”
“A snow-capped peak rising out of an alpine fjord.”
Painted after a trip to the Norwegian fjords. The mountain has a particular quality of warmth in the brown rock that I wanted to keep — most paintings of cold mountains end up too blue. I let the sky stay loose and almost cloudy, so the peak feels like it's catching the only direct sun for miles.
